PhD & MSc (Optoelectronics) Research Mode Program
Currently, INOR offers Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Science (Research Mode) in Optoelectronics for the following research fields i.e Nano Materials Fabrication and Characterization; Nano Materials and Devices; Nano Device and Packaging; Modelling and Simulation of Nano Optoelectronic Devices; Nano Integrated Systems; Solid State Lighting Solutions; and Nano Optics. The graduates from these programs are expected to have high employment prospects in semiconductor electronics industry.

Admission Requirements:
MSc
1. A Bachelor’s Honour degree in Science or Engineering with CGPA at least 2.75 or equivalent from recognized universities.
For a candidate with CGPA less than 2.75, which is CGPA 2.5-2.74, he/she should has experience in research environment for at least 1 year or professional experience in the related field for at least 1 year or 2 academic publications (not journal proceeding) or more in the area applied for or at least Grade B in major/elective courses or at least Grade B+ in final year project.
For a candidate with CGPA less than 2.00-2.49, he/she should has experience in research environment for at least 5 years or professional experience in the related field for at least 5 years AND 2 academic publications (not proceeding journal) or more in the area applied for or at least Grade B+ in major/elective courses or at least Grade A- in final year project, together with additional conditions as requested by INOR (if necessary).
2. International candidates, which graduated from university with non-English medium instruction, are required to pass in TOEFL/IELTS with a minimum score of 550 or 80 in TOEFL or minimum score of Band 6 in IELTS or pass in USM Intensive English Course Level 4. Results must be attached with the application form.
PhD
3. A Master’s degree (by Research Mode) in Science or Engineering from recognized universities.
Or
4. A Master’s degree (by Coursework/Mixed Mode) with CGPA of at least 3.00 in Science or Engineering from recognized universities.
5. International candidates, which graduated from university with non-English medium instruction, are required to pass TOEFL/IELTS with a minimum score of 550 or 80 in TOEFL or minimum score of Band 6 in IELTS or pass in USM Intensive English Course Level 4. Results must be attached with the application form.
