Raman spectroscopy is a contactless, non-destructive, highly versatile and very straightforward technique for materials characterization. It is one of the most popular and major optical characterization techniques for investigating the lattice vibrational and optical properties of the materials. This technique has been widely used to study the semiconductor materials in bulk or thin films, porous materials, metal oxides, chalcogenide materials, carbon related materials, as well as biological and pharmaceuticals materials, etc.

In this workshop, the basic theory and working principle of Raman Spectroscopy and its technological advances will be reviewed. Subsequent sessions will be focused on the topic of “The science and technology behind the Confocal Raman Microscope and its application across the materials science”. The emphasis will be stressed on Fast Chemical Imaging and Advanced Application with the modular design of Renishaw inVia Raman system allows convenient combination with SPM/AFM for TERS studies, SEM Raman for Structural Chemical Analysis, and PL for Photoluminescence Measurements. After this course, the participants will be more familiar to the capabilities, limitations and applications as well as the attest technology of Raman spectroscopy.

This training course will be delivered by two specialists from Renishaw. Hence, this course offers opportunities for academicians, researchers, postgraduate students and also industrial practitioners to gather, share and discuss valuable knowledge in the field of spectroscopy.
