BUKIT JAMBUL, PENANG, 23 September 2019 - Institute of Nano Optoelectronics Research and Technology (INOR), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Penang has organized a Sharing Session with Nobel Laureate, Professor Dr. Shuji Nakamura, the winner of the 2014 Nobel Prize in Physics. The event was held in conjunction with the conferment of Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science to Professor Dr. Shuji Nakamura at the Commemorative Convocation Ceremony held in celebration of the USM 50th anniversary. The title of his presentation is "Invention of Blue LED and Future Solid State Lighting". He speaks about the scientific revolution in solid-state lighting, with far-reaching impact on fields ranging from information and communication, to energy and the environment, to health care and life sciences during the two- and half-hour program. This sharing session is an initiative taken by INOR to provide a knowledge and experience-sharing platform from Professor Dr. Shuji. The program saw the participation of various partners and collaborators from the industry such as OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, Lumileds Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., ITRAMAS, QAV Technologies, ISO Technology Sdn Bhd., school students from MRSM Balik Pulau, university staff & students (USM, Toyohashi University of Technology (TUT) & Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM)) and public visitors.
