We would like to welcome our new Director, Ts. Dr. Mohd Zamir Pakhuruddin
Jan 3rd 2022: We would like to welcome our new Director, Ts. Dr. Mohd Zamir Pakhuruddin. He took over the helm of our institute from Interim Director/Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr. Faisal Rafiq Mahamd Adikan, FASc beginning 1 January 2022. Ts. Dr. Mohd Zamir completed his PhD in Photovoltaics Engineering at University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia. Before joining academia, he was a Senior Photolithography Engineer at SilTerra and Senior R&D Engineer of Sputtering at Fuji Electric (both in Kulim Hi-Tech Park) for about 8 years. Currently, he is also a Professional Technologist (Ts.) in the area of Green Technology.

PhD candidate, Ezzah Azimah Alias appointed as Epitaxy Research Scientist at Facebook, Plymouth, UK
Oct 4th 2021: Our PhD candidate, Ezzah Azimah Alias, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr Norzaini Zainal has been making USM and the nation proud with her appointment as an Epitaxy Research Scientist at Facebook, Plymouth, UK starting from 13 September 2021. She is one of our students trained in University of California, Santa Barbara under the collaboration with 2014 Nobel Prize winner in Physics, Prof. Dr Shuji Nakamura through the GaN on GaN Programme. Congratulation Ezzah Azimah !! We hope that her achievement will be strong motivation for other students to work harder for your dream. One key take away point here is that to be the best, our aim and efforts need to directed to compete globally.

Assoc. Prof Dr. Norzaini Zainal on securing Phase 1 Prototype Research Grant Scheme (PRGS) 2021 from Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE)
Warmest congratulations to Assoc. Prof Dr. Norzaini Zainal on securing Phase 1 Prototype Research Grant Scheme (PRGS) 2021 from Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) with the title of "Development of high quality 4-inch gallium nitride template by growing gallium nitride layer on 4-inch dome-patterned sapphire substrate for improved performance of light emitting diodes". The project was awarded an amount of RM241,358.00. Well done and all the best for the project! #WeLead.

Apr 9th -- We are pleased to announce that Prof Dr. Boon S. Ooi from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia has been appointed as INOR's Adjunct Professor for a period of 1 April 2021 until 31 March 2022 to assist INOR towards high impact research and academic programs for global research prominence as well as for the development of local talent and technology for a sustainable nation.
